Rule 19?

So you want an explanation...

Tell me, I forget. Show me, I remember. Involve me, I understand.

I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical world. ~ Thomas Jefferson

During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act. ~George Orwell

This site is provided for the benefit especially of activists who recognize that WE are the instruments of change - not the politicos and the failed parties who leech off the money managers and corporate elites. We cannot expect change from those who lure in and then do in their followers and supporters.  We'll live up to the promise - not delivered - of the MoveOn organization: "to help busy people be effective citizens." For us, that doesn't mean going hat-in-hand, on bended knee, pleading with our reps to do what we pay them to do. Shake off domestic abuse syndrome; we don't have the time or the resources to waste.

PF says:  I had registered rule19.org in September of '04 after i had gotten increasingly disenchanted with moveon and thought i'd probably eventually want a name (we were formerly mamoven.com) that wouldn't dissuade others (like myself) for whom the moveon organization was not progressive enough. Plus, i strongly believe in free speech, free ideas, free actions and I don't want moveon dictating what goes on our website and what can't go on. I am very VERY disappointed that 'we the people' don't have a stronger, more progressive voice acting on our behalf; IMHO the democratic party is pathetic and not worthy of support. What we need, more than ever before, is REAL, HONEST TO GOODNESS change. A revolt would be nice:-)

Why Rule 19?

Felix Arroyo, Boston city councilor, told a group of us awhile back that Michael Flaherty would NOT allow a discussion on the looming 'war on Iraq' in city council chambers because [drum roll] under rule 19 [drum roll] it was NOT city business!!!!!!

Let's dissuade everyone of the notion that we 'don't talk politics.' We MUST engage folks - each and every body we come across who's willing to listen & discuss - and share the truth of what goes on in Washington. We must face the large issues - realize that we all have a common purpose, common adversary. Get TOGETHER folks; forget Rep vs Dem, left vs right. Let's not be afraid of discussion and other opinions.
