Confronting Zionists and their appeasers - 12/17/06

Background: SDP (Somerville Divestment Project) has been showing monthly documentaries in MA, for a series called "Unveiling Palestine."
It's an attempt to educate an American public that is relentlessly misled (to say the least) by the MSM (i.e., mainstream media) that takes its marching orders from the Israeli Lobby and other US news-filter mechanisms. The issue of Palestine is crucial not just to Americans but to the entire world. American taxpayers fund the military might that Israel uses to terrorize Palestinians, thus our entire ME foreign policy is directly linked to Israel's policy of ethnic cleansing and genocide, and thus we are a pariah to a more informed international community.

Well, sure enough, The Lobby went into action. It did what it always does; it subjected SDP to the same treatment it gives all who speak truth to Zionism. 

Bottom line: SDP was evicted from the First Church Congregational, Cambridge where it had a basement office and where it screened the documentary films (the films now show at another church, one that hopefully won't cave to Zionist pressure; we'll see). 

Here's what happened: In September, SDP showed the documentary 'Loss of Liberty.' A group of Zionist provocateurs - led by Seva Brodsky - showed up outside the church, littered the church grounds with obnoxious literature, and intimidated people who were trying to come to the film. The provocateurs were told twice by church staff to leave - or the cops would be called. (The Zionist literature used some ugly quotes from some purported organization that has nothing whatsoever to do with SDP - apparently in hopes that readers would make a quantum nonsense leap and link that group to SDP; this is the nature of the beast.  Have a look at their nasty work (popup link).

When it was time for October's film screening, SDP was told 'no room at the inn;' at the end of October the church sent SDP an eviction notice (likely illegal). This is how successful The Lobby is at intimidation. 

"During the last five weeks, our office has been receiving numerous calls expressing concern about the nature and purpose of your organization. Some of these calls have come from individuals and organizations with whom we have important relationships. In order to maintain these relationships and address these concerns, our staff has expended unacceptable levels of time and energy. This is a distraction that we can no longer permit.

Therefore, we feel that we must ask you to vacate the space you are currently using in the building no later than November 15, 2006, and not to seek to renew your building use agreements with the Church."

On Sunday, December 17th, a group of Palestinian supporters (myself included) handed out flyers to parishioners as they left the church. One flyer - a 'Letter to Parishioners' - explains exactly what went on between SDP and church leaders. The other flyer explains how insidious is the Israeli Lobby; we wrapped this flyer around the letter. 

Many of us - if not all - were shocked at the behavior of church staff who came out to try and intimidate us into leaving the area (we were on a public sidewalk). They were aggressive, nasty and bullying. Please have a look at the flyers below.
